Founded in 2019 by Dominic Kemps, who brings over two decades of experience in leveraging data and insights to launch organisations, lead strategy, elevate philanthropy, and design innovative partnerships, Sommartel serves clients across the public, private, and not-for-profit sectors.
Our core focus is helping organisations create or refine strategies to enhance social impact and optimise resources for positive change.
We operate with a lean structure and a long-term mindset, prioritising genuine partnership over unnecessary upselling. Our goal is to build enduring relationships, becoming a trusted extension of your team and consistently delivering value that aligns with your objectives.
Sommartel is also committed to social responsibility in its own operations, allowing up to 10% of available consultant time for pro-bono initiatives supporting impactful causes.

DOMINIC KEMPS
CEO
With over twenty years of strategic leadership spanning the public, private, and not-for-profit sectors, I have built a reputation for rapidly understanding organisations and their real driving forces, challenging entrenched assumptions, and unlocking new possibilities. My career has taken me from top 5 global brand marketing agencies and some of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies, to technology and life sciences start-ups, and nearly a decade supporting non-profits, academia, international organisations, and the UN system.

My expertise covers strategy development for a diverse range of organisations—from FMCG and finance powerhouses to NGOs and global philanthropic initiatives. I have led cross-border initiatives and collaborations reaching more than 70 countries across five continents, developed multi-million dollar/euro/pound public-private partnerships that have reached millions, and optimised resources through both innovative fundraising and organisational restructuring for long-term sustainability. I am known for designing creative, “out of the box” solutions to address persistent challenges.

A voracious reader with wide-ranging interests, I take pride in my interdisciplinary approach—examining issues from multiple perspectives to uncover hidden value and opportunity. I adapt my methods to fit the unique culture and needs of each organisation and team, drawing on a proven track record of helping clients achieve ambitious goals.

THE
SOMMARTEL NAME
Grand Sommartel is a summit in the Swiss Jura mountains, rising 1,337 meters above the UNESCO World Heritage town of Le Locle - renowned, along with neighbouring La Chaux-de-Fonds, for its watchmaking heritage. For my family, Sommartel was the favoured destination for weekend hikes with friends and our dogs in summer, and for skiing in winter.

I chose the name Sommartel because I still vividly remember standing on its summit as a child, gazing out at the Swiss Alps stretching across the horizon. Through the eyes of an eleven-year-old, the Alps—especially the imposing Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau—seemed even more magnificent, their scale amplified by my enthusiasm and imagination. I was captivated.

That sense of perspective is at the heart of Sommartel’s ethos. Just as I once saw those mountains as larger than life, Sommartel aims to help clients challenge conventional viewpoints and magnify key insights—identifying opportunities for innovation and partnership that move organisations forward. We bring curiosity, collaborative spirit, and a focus on actionable results to every project, helping you see new possibilities and achieve meaningful impact.
